A NATO DIANA milestone

LOCAT3D shared a key milestone from our NATO DIANA process during NorBAN’s Startup Spotlight in Oslo and why it matters for resilient, on-demand manufacturing.

In early September, LOCAT3D received an update that marked an important milestone in our journey. During the NATO DIANA due diligence and interview process, we were told to be proud – and that only around 160 teams progressed from more than 3,500 applicants.

We had not shared much publicly about this process at the time. Instead, we chose to open up and share more in person at NorBAN’s Startup Spotlight in Oslo (a forum designed for deeper founder-led sessions, investor dialogue, and high-quality community conversations).

Why this matters

For us, the DIANA process and the conversations it triggered reinforce a broader point: resilience is built through capability, access, and speed – and manufacturing plays a central role. When businesses can source the right competence and production capacity faster, it strengthens:

  • innovation velocity across industries
  • preparedness and supply security under pressure
  • collaboration between SMEs and larger industrial players

Dear Innovator,

Congratulations🎉! We are delighted to inform you that you have progressed to Step 3 of the DIANA challenge evaluation process! This year, we received thousands of proposals from innovators across the NATO Alliance, offering innovative solutions to critical defence and security challenges. Reaching Step 3 is a significant achievement.
